Is the iPhone/iTouch hurting the traditional gaming companies?

Lot’s of research out this week that video game sales are down for the last 12 months. I am surprised nothing I have run across suggests that the iPhone/iTouch platform is growing with gamers and may be part of the cause.

I can personally tell you the only gaming spend I have had in the last year is with Apple’s App Store.

Why –

1) I have my IPod iTouch with me most of the time.
2) The games are avalable to me when I want them and quickly (only need a internet connection).
3) Cost – I can get a handful of new and fun games for a few bucks each.
